Class snack calendar
A class snack calendar is a simple list of who brings snack, on which day, if the teacher wants one. If the teacher does not want a snack calendar, you do not make one.
Ask first. Some rooms have snack from home on certain days. Some have stopped outside food. The calendar follows that answer. It does not create a new habit, and it does not cover the whole school. One classroom.
What goes on it
Only the days the teacher actually wants a snack.
One family, or one open slot, per day. Not three backups and a waiting list.
The food rule in one line: what the school allows, and what it does not. Ask the teacher. Do not copy a rule from another school.
How many children the snack should cover, if the teacher gave you a count.
A line that a family can skip a turn and does not have to explain.
Send the calendar once, on the channel the teacher uses. Offer a way to swap days by replying to you, not the whole class. If someone cannot take a day, leave the day open or take it off the calendar. Do not assign it to a family who did not say yes.
Allergies and the food rule
Put the rule the teacher gave you at the top. If you are not sure a food is safe for this room, leave it off. You never have to name a child to explain why a food is out. "Our teacher asked us to skip this" is a full sentence.
If the school already sends a snack, your calendar may be nothing. That is a fine calendar. Do not add a second snack on top of the one the school provides unless the teacher asked.
The reminder
One note to the whole class, a day or two before, is enough if the teacher wants a reminder. Do not name the assigned family in the group thread. A private reminder, once, is fine if they asked for one. A second private reminder is a chase.
If the snack does not show up, the class still has a day. Tell the teacher. Do not run to the store to fix it unless you want to, and do not mention who forgot. Forgetting a snack is ordinary. It is not a note about the family.
A sheet, not a system
You can put the days in the class note. You do not need a color code or a binder. If you want paper for who is bringing what, the party checklist on the free printables page is the same idea: one line, one job, an out if the line stays empty.
A snack day is not a party. If the teacher also wants a class party, that plan is separate. Class party ideas are for that afternoon, not for every Tuesday.
Then stop adjusting the calendar. Families who cannot take a turn are still part of the class. The days that are covered are enough.
