Looking for theme ideas for this year’s class party? Here are a few, complete with activity suggestions, games, snack ideas, and more! Dive in, get inspired, and let us know which ones you’ve tried and loved!

Use one theme, then keep the afternoon small

These lists are ideas for the look of the room, not a schedule you have to finish. On the day, kids sit at the tables. There is a main, fruit, a snack, and a dessert, one craft, and one game. They go home happy, full, and buzzing about the afternoon.

Food is a little spread, and it can show up on the day. Usually that is a main, fruit, a snack, and a dessert, and some schools do more. Individually wrapped items are usually the easiest.

Set out disposable tablecloths, a little table decor, plates, cups, napkins, and placemats if you want them. Plastic silverware if the food needs it. Even if the kids can eat with their hands, pack serving utensils and gloves for whoever is serving.

Try the craft ahead of time, then bring one finished sample so the class can see the ending. It helps a lot.

Skip anything that has to dry, unless the teacher has the time and a spot for it to sit.

Pack a coloring page for the kid who would rather draw than eat or do the craft, plus little crayons or a crayon cup for 3 or 4 kids. Come prepared. Do not ask the teacher for supplies.

Schools have custodians, and one or two extra trash bags are still worth tossing in. You do not bring it all yourself. Ask for the items on SignUpGenius, or however your class collects. Have everything a couple of days before, except the food, so you can fill gaps without a last-minute rush. It is more fun when you are prepared.

Balloons can be a photo or table decor. Skip one for every child. They get popped, lost, or stuck on the ceiling.

If parents come, watch the kids whose parents cannot. They will want a little help, a juice box opened, and to be in the photos.
